Jenny, a young girl was at the checkout with her mother and saw a circle of pearls in a pink foil box. She pleaded with her mom to buy her the $1.95 pearl necklace.

Her mom replied, “If you really want them, your birthday is coming and your grandmother will give you a dollar.”

When she returned home she she emptied her penny bank of 17 cents. She did other chores for the neighbors, and when her birthday came her grandma gave Jenny a dollar. Jenny had enough to buy her pearls.

Loving her pearls she wore them everywhere but when she went swimming or went in the bathtub because they would turn green if she did but she cherrished the pearls.

One night her father asked.
“Do you love me?”
“Oh yes daddy you know I love you”
“ Then give me your pearls”
“Oh, Daddy, not my pearls, but you can have Princess, my favorite white horse with pink tail.”

“That’s OK, honey.”

The next night the process repeated and he again asked her for the pearls. She said “Oh, Daddy, not my pearls, but you can have my baby doll and matching blanket.”
“That’s OK, sleep well.”

The following night when Jenny’s father came to tuck her in he found her crying. She didn’t say anything and she lifted her hands to produce the pearl necklace handing it to her daddy. “Here, Daddy, it’s for you.”

Jenny’s father took the necklace and then pulled a blue velvet box from his pocket with a genuine strand of pearls and gave them to Jenny. He had them the whole time. He was just waiting for her to give up the costume jewelry so he could give her the genuine pearl treasure.

What are you holding on to that is preventing you from receiving your genuine treasure? What are your views on money? Don’t be poverty concious.
